Step Forward

Step Forward cover image

The Step Forward material is based around the idea of a Christian
Fellowship Group meeting for either mid-week or Adult Sunday School.
There are various features of the Step Forward material that make
it distinctive from most house or home groups. An outline of this approach is
included below.

The material has a practical flavour and offers a resource for small groups. It
explores some of the basic things we are expected to know and be able to do
as Christians and yet don’t always get to ask how! As a discernment process
it invites the group to ask, ‘what does God require of us?’ a question set in the
context of fellowship and prayer.

The material is divided into eight four week sections, Each of the eight
sections will take just over a month to complete with the addition of social
activities in between each of the sections, effectively providing a year’s worth of
material allowing for time off, the social evenings and joint worship events.
It is anticipated that there will also be the provision of ‘special events’ at a District
level to explore particular aspects of ministry such as presbyteral or diaconal
ministry, youth work, local preaching, being a steward, being a treasurer,
pastoral care etc.

At the end of the year it is hoped that those who have met as part of a Step
Forward group will feel more confident and perhaps challenged not
only in their personal life, but also in their commitment to each other and to
developing their own area of ministry and discipleship.
