Being in fellowship
Being in fellowship is a huge challenge and a great privilege. Being in fellowship is an important part of our Christian experience because without small groups, Christians can become like a fire that has been kicked and spread out to 'put it out'.
Praying
This is a practical course in prayer where group members will share some of their own experience of prayer, try out some different approaches to prayer and reflect upon what Jesus taught. (In the following weeks we will keep coming back to prayer as a key to being Christian.)
Reading the Bible
This is a basic reminder of how we can read the Bible. God's word is given to us as a community, not jut as individuals and reading it with insight can be really helpful in understanding more of God's story for us.
Worshipping God
Methodism was 'born in song' - an outpouring of worship from people who faced the upheaval and uncertainty of the industrial revolution. we examine what it means to say that worship remains one of the main reasons for coming together as God's people.
Knowing what God wants
From when we first heard the call of God to become a Christian we have bene on a daily journey of discernment asking what God wants of us. In this section we will look at our own experiences, some of the wisdom of the ages and scripture to try and become more aware of God's continuing call.
Being saved
Jesus offers a stark choice between two ways. in this section we remind ourselves of that choice, why it matters and what God has done for us to make it possible for us to find our way.
Following Jesus
The key call of disciples is to follow Jesus. This is an immensely practical call. It is about what we do and who we trust far more than getting theology or religious practices right. We look at Jesus' clear call - 'if you wnat to be my disciple, deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me'.
Life in all its fullness
Jesus calls us to live life in all its abundance. Through this section we explore what it might mean for us as individuals and collectively as a group, and as Christians together.
